ALEXINIA BALDWIN EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD

The AGATE Board seeks nominations for the annual Educator of the Year Award. Nominees shall have made outstanding contributions to gifted education in the role of teacher, coordinator, director, supervisor, principal, professor, or other related roles. Dr. Baldwin, a professor of curriculum at the University of Connecticut and the original founder of AGATE in the 1970s, is a researcher involved in issues relating to gifted and talented education and a tireless advocate for our most able learners.

VIRGINIA ERLICH SERVICE AWARD

In 1998 the AGATE Board inaugurated the Virginia Erlich Service Award to recognize prominent individuals whose vision, dedication, and long-term effort have greatly impacted the lives of gifted children and the field of gifted education. As a co-founder of AGATE and author of an article documenting the importance of grandparents as mentors for gifted children (1983) that continues to be cited in the literature, Dr. Erlich enriched the soil she tended for present and future use.

A. HARRY PASSOW AWARD

Dr. Passow, a highly regarded professor of education at Columbia University, dedicated much of his research to curriculum differentiation and policy development for gifted and talented students.
