This three-to-six week residential summer program provides gifted high school students with the opportunity to work in a real-world professional environment with experienced and respected mentors in science, design, history and the arts. Apprentices reside on campus and experience college residential life. Areas of study have included: industrial design, chemical analysis, mechanical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, environmental science, theater production, art gallery curation, molecular diagnosis of ear disease, and pediatric medicine. Yunasa (the Lakota word for "balance") is designed to teach campers techniques for integrating the intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, and physical aspects of their lives. The weeklong camp experience for highly gifted children ages 10-14, is devoted to reminding bright young people that they are more than just intellect. Our trained staff provides campers with a physically and emotionally safe environment where they meet other gifted children, gain confidence and comfort interacting with peers and are challenged to strive for their personal best while making new friends and having fun. The Davidson Institute is seeking profoundly gifted students, ages 12 through 15, who are interested in attending the THINK Summer Institute, a three-week residential summer program on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno where students can earn up to seven college credits.
The THINK Summer Institute runs the last three weeks in July. Tuition is $1,800 and covers course credits, room and board and the cost of planned programs and activities. Financial assistance is available based on need.
