G·tec Kids

Time Travelers. , offered throughout NY state

We have an exciting new curriculum at G·tec, called Time Travelers. In this program, 4th and 5th graders recreate items and participate in events throughout history. Students find themselves being jurors in Hammurabi's Court of Law. Using the original architectural templates, they design a model of a temple for Ancient Greece. Learning about the arch bridge, students become Ancient Roman engineers, create a model and have to test how much weight it can hold. These are only a few of the items that the exciting new Time Travelers curriculum explores. Please feel free to check out the curriculum on our website: G·tec Kids . If your chapter is interested in starting the Time Traveler program, please let me know.

Synergy Challenge, now launched nationally

In addition, we are thrilled about the new Synergy Challenge, a national competition, which is due to launch Monday, September 12, 2011. Every season, we offer a "challenge" to all age groups where they have to design, create, build, or perform something that would benefit the community or society. Our first challenge is: Comic Animator. This particular task is art and language based, but tasks will vary, tapping on math and science as well, in the future. With Comic Animator students will think of a local or national need or problem, design a protagonist who has special powers, and craft a story that addresses the conflict or need. Please feel free to check out our website: Synergy Challenge or Facebook Page where each Challenge will be posted: Synergy Westchester Facebook.
