HUNTER COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Hunter College Campus Schools (HCCS) seeks qualified candidates for Principal of Hunter College High School.  The Campus Schools are among the nation's oldest and foremost centers for educating the intellectually gifted and serve a highly diverse student population.  

Reporting to the Director of HCCS (which comprises both the Elementary and High School), the Principal is responsible for all academic and administrative management.  The Principal will work closely with faculty and staff, the parent community, and Hunter College to enhance the schools well-known model programs.  Specifically, the Principal: leads personnel selection, supervision and professional development; oversees curriculum development; and manages fiscal and administrative matters.  In addition, s/he assures that school services meet the changing needs of the student population and maintains communications with students, parents/guardians, educators, Campus Schools and College administrators and support staff, and other constituents.  

The Principal will be an experienced professional and administrator with leadership expertise working in secondary education and working with people representing diverse backgrounds, roles, and interests.  S/he needs strong skills in communication, staff supervision and development, and administration.  In addition, knowledge and/or experience in theory and best practices in 7-12 education of the intellectually gifted (or similar group) is highly desirable.

A Masters degree is required with an earned Doctorate in a relevant field preferred.  New York State certification as a School Administrator Supervisor (SAS), School Building Leader (SBL), or School District Administrator (SDA) is preferred and required within four years of employment.
