Mary Kay received her Bachelor of Science degree from Nazareth College; her Master of Science degree from State University of New York at Brockport and her School Administrator Supervisor degree from Canisius College. Mary Kay is presently the president of MKLewis, LLC an Educational Consulting Company. As a consultant, she works with teachers, parents and administrators in the areas of gifted education, differentiated instruction, assessment and Annual Professional Performance Review for numerous districts within NYS.

Prior to retirement, Amy worked as a teacher of the gifted for over 25 years. She helped develop and implement programs in Syracuse, New York and Tully, New York. Specializing in curriculum development, Amy has served as a guest lecturer at the college level, worked with parent groups, presented at AGATE and NYSAEC conferences, and acted as a consultant to parents, school districts and Arts organizations.

A mother of two gifted sons, Audrey is a retired teacher who taught for 30 years. During that time she spent 17 years developing and implemented programming for elementary and middle school gifted students. She also taught high school art, special education and alternative education students, many of whom were twice exceptional. Audrey has served on the AGATE board for many years, most recently as president. She has also been a member of GETS Network (Gifted Education Advisory Board for the New York State Department of Education. Audrey also has served as the Chairperson of the Content Advisory Committee for the development of the NYS Gifted Education certification exam. She has also taught Gifted Education on the college level and currently consults and teaches privately.

Christy is an assistant professor at Lehman College, CUNY in the Bronx where she teaches courses in childhood education. She specializes in instruction in curriculum development that includes teaching of thinking and social-emotional skills.

Dr. Leticia Hernández de Hahn is a faculty member in the Department of Education at Niagara University and works in close collaboration with the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented at the University of Connecticut. She earned a B.A. in Education from the Panamerican University in Mexico City, a M.A. in Special Education from the University of the Americas, also in Mexico City, and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Connecticut.

Judith J. Wegman has been in primary education for over 20 years working in Brighton Central Schools in Rochester, NY. She has been a first and second grade classroom teacher and is currently the extended studies teacher for Council Rock Primary School in Brighton. Judy is the membership chair for AGATE, the secretary for the Association of Mathematics Teachers of the Rochester Area (AMTRA), and the treasurer of the Brighton Teacher’s Association. Judy is certified in elementary education N-6, reading K-12, gifted education N-6, and she holds her National Certification through the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards.

Heidi is currently a mathematics instructor at Shaker High School, North Colonie Central School District, Latham, New York. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education and Mathematics from SUNY Potsdam, and Masters Degree in Secondary Education /Mathematics from Indiana University, Bloomington. She is certified to teach 7 - 12 Mathematics in New York, Massachusetts, and Indiana. Heidi is also mother to six children.

Kate Vieillard is presently an Academic Program Director for the National Society for the Gifted and Talented’s Summer Institute for the Gifted. In her role she is responsible for the planning and implementation of three week academic residential, and day camps for precocious youth that span from the campuses of Princeton and Yale to the prestigious UCLA and University of California at Berkley. Prior to this, Kate was a Program Director for Northwestern University’s Center for Talent Development.

Bobbi Bartholomew is a 4th and 5th grade Academic Enrichment teacher in the Iroquois Central School District. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Canisius College in Elementary Education, and a Masters degree in Creative Studies and Change Leadership from Buffalo State College. Additionally, Bobbi is NYS certified in N-6 grade, and Gifted Education. Bobbi’s teaching experience includes 4th and 5th grade Level One Enrichment, services for all students, and Level Two and Three Pull-out Programming for grades 4-8.

Born in Glens Falls, Amy has resided in the Adirondack Mountains for the last 15 years. She and her husband live in Lake Placid, where they are raising two gifted sons, one who is Twice Exceptional. Amy is an attorney who has practiced law privately as well as in both county and state government positions. A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and Western New England College School of Law, Amy hopes to bring her time, energy and talents to the cause of advancing and supporting gifted education across New York State.

If you are interested in being on the Board, please send a brief description of
your professional and educational background. Include a couple of reasons why
you are interested in gifted education and how you might serve the AGATE organization.

Responsibilities include attendance at all Board monthly phone meetings,

attending the Board meeting held at the annual AGATE Fall conference,
participation in a committee and/or supervision of one of the organization’s primary goals.
